Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 228's Website.

2012 Spring Camporee

This year's Spring Camporee will be held on May 18th-20th at James Baird State Park in Pleasant Valley.  The theme for the event is "Quest for the Holy Grail".  Registration for the Spring Camporee is $8.00 per Scout and $5.00 per Adult.  See the attachment below for more information.  The adult leader coordinating this event is Pete Riley.  Please contact him or inquire at troop meetings for signing up or more information.

Scouting for Food 2012

BSA Scouting for Food

Bag distribution: Saturday April 14 | 9-11:30 am | Rhinebeck Town Hall

Food Pick up/Sort Day : Saturday April 21 | 9-12:30 pm | Rhinebeck Town Hall

Help replenish the food pantries at the Church of the Messiah
and the Dutch Reformed Church in Rhinebeck.  Along with Pack 28 and Troop 128, we meet at 9:00 am sharp in FULL CLASS A UNIFORM.  Please meet at the parking lot on the south side of the Rhinebeck Town Hall and park on Center Street between East Market and South Streets.

This year, the food drive collection was 5,822 food items which were all sorted, boxed, labeled, and delivered to the food pantries at the Church of the Messiah and the Rhinebeck Reformed Church. This is a new record!  Troop 228 would like to thank all of you who helped with the Food Drive -- each of you made it a complete success!!!!

This is an individual activity, not a troop activity, so those scouts who are interested in earning one or more badges must register themselves by mail. Please see Mr. Phelan in advance for a blue card, which you are required to bring with you. Also be sure to review the requirements and the prerequisites and “be prepared.” If you have a partial from a prior week at summer camp, you can finish off that partially-completed badge at the Troop 22 merit badge seminar as well.

Pancake Breakfast March 10, 2012

PancakesPancake Breakfast at NDRGC on Saturday, March 10 from 9am to 1pm. The boys traditionally help out as a thank you to the club. Typically they work for 1-2 hour shifts helping with setup, doing cleanup, etc. They are not expected to cook. Bonus: Scouts in uniform get to eat for free.  Sign up at troop meetings.

Note:  Thank you scouts and parents for making the pancake breakfast a raging success and for helping maintain a clean and enjoyable environment for the day.  You make us proud!

Klondike Derby 2012

Troop 228 Klondike

The Dutchess District Activities Committee will be hosting this year's Klondike Derby on Saturday, February 4th. The Klondike Derby will be held at Camp Nooteeming in Salt Point with the opening ceremony at 8:45 am and awards ceremony at 4:00 pm. The theme for this year's event is "Stars and Stripes Klondike Cook-Off". Attached please find the flyer for the event which provides an overview for those that have not attended in the past.

There will be a sign-up sheet at both the Friday/Saturday Webelos Overnight (on 1/6/12 - 1/7/12) and Monday evening's Troop meeting (on 1/9/12). The cost to participate will be $10.00 per Scout which includes registration fee and food costs. Payment is expected at time of sign-up (either cash or check). If paying by check, please make payment payable to Troop 228. The registration deadline is 1/20/12. For more information, contact Pete Riley at (845)758-4460.
